Local boy Craig Mackail-Smith supports SCF!

Fun in the garden with Craig, his two children and dogs

A beautiful, sunny day of fun was had by all, when we visited our pal, Craig Mackail-Smith, the legendary POSH and Brighton & Hove goal scorer, to interview him for our monthly ESP Magazine article. After travelling to his home, we were greeted first by Craig, and then by his two Alsatians, who although absolutely HUMONGOUS are two of the softest dogs I have ever met - but maybe that's because Craig was there to keep an eye on them?!

Craig and his partner Amber have supported SCF Children's Charity for a number of years now, and continue to do so despite their hectic family and work schedule, for which the charity are extremely grateful. Craig always tries to make it to our events - the next one being our Cycle, Splash, Dash event in Cambridge in August, followed by a fundraising weekend at Serpentine Green in Peterborough. His partner Amber has successfully helped other charities in the past with the organisation of their events, and is looking forward to getting back to helping the SCF Events Coordination team, after a few months away. We know she is great at rallying the troops, and we very much look forward to having her back on board!

Craig and SCF's Co-Founder, Junior McDougald, have been friends for many years, and it was clear to see that Junior's passion for the charity has rubbed off on Craig in this time. "As a family man I can see how important it is that disadvantaged kids have the chance to achieve their dreams, just like I did, and it's great to be a part of something that can help children aspire to do something good with their lives, whether or not they have a great education."

"It's hard to imagine what it must be like for families who are going through such an awful time because a child is seriously ill, it must be amazing for them to enjoy a few hours of happiness together when they have their Sporting Wish granted through Sports Connections Foundation."

We hope you enjoy your break Craig, thank you for a great day (and a great coffee!) and we're looking forward to seeing what you get up to next season.
